To get straight to the point; this Camel’s back is broken. Hearing it for the umpteenth time, “the pace of the English premier league is too much for teams outside of England”, the damage was done and my rant was inevitable. I am sick, disgusted, fed up, angered, bewildered; well you get the picture, of this nonsensical, and ludicrous not to mention unfounded theory being fed for the entire (gullible) football world to gobble up.
Firstly, this supposed dominance is as a result of the success of the top four in the champions league when they face other European powerhouses. Yes, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal have done England very proud in recent times in the champion’s league. Is that a reflection though of the strength of the league? If the league is so strong, then why, why oh why, isn’t this dominance evident in the UEFA Cup? If the league is so fast and so superior, why aren’t ALL English teams dominating in all tournaments? This is pg-13 so I will not answer, because it might be filled with f-bombs to Timbuktu. Shouldn’t 5th, and 6th, also have this same superior quality and pace that rattles all these slow and backward ‘footballing’ leagues around the world?
Secondly, the Spanish Primera Liga, i.e. La Liga, is one of the slowest, most artsy, most spacious, but most technical leagues in the world. Why did the champions of Europe come from this league? Not only did they win, but they absolutely demolished Manchester United, who aside from the opening ten minutes, were just like me; a spectator. How is this possible? Barcelona is not fast, do not play counter-attacking football, nor is their tempo or style of play anything that you would call fast. In fact ‘Barca’ is a prime example of “slow and steady, wins the race”. Explain please ;( Someone please call 911?) because I NEED help. The pace wasn’t too overwhelming for a Barca side whose defense is supposedly questionable.
I will enlighten my blind, lost sheep. The dominance of the top FOUR in the premiership, is as a result of the quality of their teams, PERIOD. With the exception of Real Madrid and Barcelona, every single European power outside of England was inferior this season, and have been for some time; proof?
AC Milan, Inter Milan, Roma, Juventus, Bayern Munich, Werder Bremen, Villareal, and Athletico Madrid, are all pound for pound, weaker, and in some cases MUCH weaker than these four English powerhouses. Don’t get me wrong, this does not in any way take away from the strength of the four clubs; after all it is the responsibility of these others to make the strongest squad possible, but it does NOT reflect on the quality of the league; proof?
Aside from Ibrahimovic, Maicon, Cesar and MAYBE Cambiasso which Inter player can take the place of a Manchester, Liverpool, Chelsea or Arsenal player? Aside from Kaka, and MAYBE Zambrotta, and Pato, which AC Milan player can fit into the top four clubs? Chiellini and Amauri are the only Juventus players that a team would try to buy. Roma don’t have a single player that can replace a player from the top four in the premiership. (Totti is as old as the Great Wall of China let’s get serious)
This is not to say the guys are not quality at all, but Vucinic vs Rooney is a mismatch. Stankovic vs Lampard or Gerrard or 'Fabreegas', is an EXTREME mismatch.
I will not keep going into these player to player comparisons, but it should be clear by now. If not, then maybe you’re trapped in the matrix, and need to free your mind. Do I even need to get into Bayern Munich’s roster?
As I said in the first segment, minus the few flukes; talent wins competitions. Talent costs money, but whoever has the most talent will win. It really is not rocket science, and should come as no surprise, that the teams that have the strongest squads, i.e. the top four English teams, as well as Barcelona will be the strongest competitors in the European competition. If the other teams want to bridge the gap and end the “dominance” of the foursome, they need not get “FASTER”, but simply, get BETTER. Class is class people, stop filling my head with your nonsense.

His Passion - Summer of Love pt 2 : Disgruntled Non-English
Her Thoughts: Sade - King of Sorrow
Chill days like today deserve chill music. Enjoy.
Her Thoughts: Why is it hard to say SORRY?
So I'm taking the subway to work today and some girl walks by and kicks my shoe right off my foot! I wasn't fully asleep, but I was pretty relaxed and listening to some tunes on my iPod. The subway car was almost completely empty which left plenty of room for her to walk around my crossed legs. I know what you're thinking, I should have moved my leg right? Maybe so, but I don't think I deserved to be kicked by a complete stranger.
I understand that accidents happen. I've been guilty of brushing people before, but I always make an effort to look back to apologize. It's harder to apologize in huge ridiculous crowds because there's just too many people! But the subway car had only a few people scattered about. After she kicked me she didn't even LOOK BACK. Instead she pretended like it didn't happen and just kept on walking down to her seat. Some people know that I'm not one for confrontation or drama, but I glared (through my sunglasses) at her for a good minute or two, after gathering my shoe of course. I mean, what was I supposed to do other than blog about it now? I just don't get what is so difficult about saying, "my bad!", "excuse me" or giving a slight hand gesture to apologize. Do you? It's not time consuming, it's just human decency that's lacking I think. Let me know, leave a comment below.

Topic of the Week: Public Relationships

She said: A celebrity lives a very different daily life that includes paparazzi and all that jazz. I’m thinking it may be hard to keep their relationships private; however I do admire the few celeb couples that seem to try to keep details to themselves ie. Jay and Bey or Halle and Gabe. I’m sure it helps to maintain some privacy and solidarity between them. My view is that too much publicity is NOT a good idea.
On a more relatable level, making a relationship “public” nowadays seems to involve being introduced as a boyfriend or girlfriend to friends or family, or the grand gesture of making it “official” over the online social networking site of your choice. I think the most popular is the “In a Relationship with _____” status option on Facebook. Is it a good idea? No, if it’s your 1 week anniversary. Ha!
On the real, I think like an expensive pair of shoes or your fave can’t live without gadget (ie. my iPod touch!), a good relationship should be protected, treasured even. People tend to put it all out there without considering the fact that there may be jealous or just plain mean people that want you to be as unhappy as they are. Meanies will be meanies no matter what, but if you can avoid having issues and a possible break up as a result then do whatever it takes! Sad that a happy couple can’t just be happy and the world just smiles with them, but so is life.
My point is keep your personal business to yourselves because it'll help in the long run.
He said: It’s hard to imagine that a relationship that is scrutinized by the public, can ever work. Every fight multiplied, every non-issue becomes the crime of the century, but most of all individual pride must be put to the ultimate test. How do you face the world and your celebrity friends with someone on your arm that supposedly cheats on you? Better yet, how do you face the world with someone you love, who is known to abuse you?
I can’t imagine the strains and difficulties in dealing with a relationship like that. If you are a figure in the public eye, then as much as you may pretend to not need or not care about the rumors, you have to. You need fans; you need their love, their respect, both of which depend on them “knowing” you. Knowing you entails your relationship, and that’s where it really all changes. I sympathize with all celebrities, and I can whole-heartedly say, I do not envy their lives.
Depending on how you handle the circumstances in your intended private relationship, you become a hero or a target of malice and slander for years; your entire career may be forgotten.
It is with this in mind then, that keeping what is in fact your private life, private is really the best idea. It’s not a secret because every celebrity already does it, and will continue to do so. It’s the best remedy as with the less relationship issues to be discovered or reviewed, the less of a personal hamper on pride, and even on your productivity in whatever it is that you do. We’re talking about celebrity egos faced by the peer pressure of the world; how can they not break up at first fight?
I guess I should point out that, knowing that your relationship is in the public eye should serve as even more incentive to do it right and to lessen the skeletons to be found in that closet or in the dark or whatever other cliché. I can only say good luck with all of that. Maybe it’s good “kudos” to them that make it work. For those that don’t, I guess it just comes with the territory, unless the foundation of a relationship is truly well formed then I’m afraid under the storm of the public-eye, it will beyond doubt weather away.
Personally, I think it’s important to have a certain amount of publicity to a relationship, just to concrete that you are in fact in a relationship. Beyond that though, the word privacy was not invented by fools, and I consider my relationship my private life.

His Thoughts: Men can't say NO?

I should start by apologizing for my hiatus in posting (welcome back?) . I was trying to find the right way to approach this topic; trying to be pleasing to the virgin eyes etc. After all the thought though, there really was no other way to talk about it.
In the midst of a drought, any water is still water. Black, brown, blue or clear, water is still water. This has to be the personal/universal motto of men everywhere, as regards to women and sex. There can be no other reason than men being on an eternal drought that could explain the total absence of self-discipline and for that matter respect, when dealing with women and sex. To get to the point, how do we (I still have to stick with the men) explain having sex with women that we are not even mildly attracted to, or even like?
I have heard men talking in disgust as to how some women walk around with their heads in the clouds when they’re not even “all that”, and really couldn’t help but feel it was our fault. For every inflated ego, and false-impression, there is a man somewhere in that engine room. Don’t get me wrong, not every inflated ego or whatever choice phrase is as a result of some ‘loose’ man. The cliché, "one man’s trash is another man’s treasure", really does hold true in some circumstances, but this doesn’t change what I’m addressing. The man who doesn’t like, didn’t notice, and didn’t even care about a woman until sex was on the line is who this is about. Apparently this man is ubiquitous and never dying; he’s sometimes the reason behind so many single mothers, he’s the reason behind so many heartaches, he’s real and he’s in the majority. He’s the “worseman” as we call him in Trinidad (translation: 'ho', no morals, no nothing), and he might be every man you ever met.
If there ever was to be such a thing, I would be a “masculinist”. I try and try to do away with all the clichés about men, but this guy is un-protectable. The answer no, becomes a question for most men. That is, it’s almost as if we say “No?” to an offer of sex, regardless of shape, size, clean or dirty, etc etc. I for one really don’t know why. Countless times during my college years I heard stories of who’s doing what with who, and as much as we shouldn’t judge, I still would be shocked; “WITH WHO?? There has to be a line, and it has to be a fat one; one that cannot be ‘liquid-papered’ or erased with any amount of alcohol .
At some point the bridge between self respect and having a “good time” needs to be shortened, or non-existent, simply put, have a good time, but we need to keep our dignity. If the things we do as fun are so embarrassing that it’s the world’s best kept secret, then why do it really? I used to be a complainer as to why some women walk around with a big head, but that’s over now. It is our fault, and it’s a battle we’re destined to lose as long as that man lives. Until “No?” becomes “No”, men will always be ‘ho's’, dogs, and pigs.
On behalf of all "not-so-worse" men (optimistically 20% of the world) everywhere I can only say I’m sorry. I don’t know how he sleeps with himself, then again he is a “worseman”, and I don’t know when turning down sex became a sin for all men. Maybe I need to experience this thirst-inducing drought, and shed more light? The answer is NO; not “No?”, but No. I need my 8 hours, with a clear conscience.
