Her Review: Lloyd's Mixtape - Lessons in Love 2.0

Thursday, June 4, 2009 by Samantha Clarke

One of my favorite R&B singers, Lloyd, has just released Lessons in Love 2.0 (the Mixtape!) and I couldn’t be happier. It's out 10 months after his third album, Lessons in Love, that dropped in August 2008. Young Lloyd includes 13 tracks with artists like Young Joc, Nelly, The Dream, and Fabolous. There are a few remixes to the original tracks on the Lessons in Love album, but more new work from the singer. Lookout for the remix to Year of the Lover and I’m Wit, in addition to one of his newest Do the Damn Thang.

I was excited, but a little nervous when I first listened to it. The bar was set extremely high by the first Lessons in Love with some really mature lyrics and smooth beats. I wasn’t sure if it was possible to meet or exceed the first effort, but to my pleasant surprise I’m happy to say Lloyd has done it again! I downloaded the mixtape, added it to my iPod and hit the gym last night where I could really devote the time it deserved to a good listen or two. A few tracks really caught my attention and got played on repeat and then a couple I could have lived without. I think Nelly was a little annoying in Lose Control, didn’t you? Luckily, Doin the Damn Thang, I Need Love featuring The Dream, and Love Spaceship kept me going.

Download Lessons in Love 2.0 here!

Lloyd is still my boy, I can’t wait for his fourth effort to drop! What about you?

xoxo, Sammy-Jo
